VRPC has been serving the shooters of our region since 1930.

We have indoor and outdoor facilities and ranges, with activities in airgun, benchrest, black powder, high-power, junior marksmanship, pistol, small bore, and silhouette. Our shotgun activities include skeet, trap, and 5-stand.

 Open to the public, VRPC is housed within the TWRA’s John Sevier Hunter Education Center. A Range Safety Officer is present during all open hours.


 We are located at 2327 Rifle Range Drive, Knoxville, TN, within the TWRA’s John Sevier Hunter Education Center.


  • Closed first full weekend of each month and all holidays.

  • The benchrest range is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 1-6 and Saturdays from 10-6. All users need to check in before 5.

  • Shotgun ranges are open on Saturday and Sunday from 1-6. Shooters must check in before 4:45. All shooting must be complete by 6. Shotgun ranges are also open on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-10. Tuesday night shotgun shooters need to check in by 7.

  • Shotgun ranges will shoot either skeet or trap, at the discretion of the Range Safety Officer. Range will shoot 5-stand (only) on the 2nd Saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month during Daylight Savings Time. Check the calendar.

  • The Pistol range is open on Sunday from 1-5 for specific programs and events.

Shotgun fees per 25 targets (One round of skeet, trap, or 5-stand)

  • Non-member adult, $7

  • Non-member youth, $5

  • Member adult, $4 (Members can purchase a 10-round card for $35)

  • Member youth, $3

Shotgun ammunition is available for purchase.


  • All traffic, except club members with key cards, must check in at the gate.

  • A valid drivers license, social security number, or TWRA ID are required to use the range regardless of age.

  • A Range Safety Officer (RSO) will be present during all shooting and will be in control of the range.

  • Firearms must be cased and unloaded.

  • Eye and ear protection is required.

  • All shotguns must have a stock (no pistol grips) and only slugs may be shot at the bench rest range.

  • Skeet ammunition is limited to #9 shot only, due to a short fallout zone. Trap and 5-stand are limited to #7 ½, #8, or #9.
